Inspiring Ecological Revolution - through growing your own food with hydroponics and aquaponics with the use of LED grow lights, T5 grow lights and induction grow lights.
Boiling Frog Productions® - “When the blood in your veins returns to the sea, and the earth in your bones returns to the ground, perhaps then you will remember that this land does not belong to you, it is you who belongs to this land.” ~ Native American quote

Boiling Frog Productions® is a market leading developer and manufacturer of sustainable technologies that include: LED grow lights, induction grow lights, T5 grow lights, and hydroponic systems. In addition to manufacturing sustainable technologies we also document sustainable initiatives that others are working within our world. We worked with Mother Earth News, Cob Works, Shelter Publications, The Colorado Rocky Mountain Permaculture Institute, and various high schools.
We chose the name Boiling Frog Productions® as we are concerned about the state of our world. The story goes that if a frog is put into a pot of hot water it will jump out immediately as it has enough sense to know when its survival is threatened. However if a frog is placed in cold water and the temperature is slowly brought up to a boil, the frog will not perceive the danger and it will stay in the pot until it dies. Humans can be seen as the boiling frog in that it has been said that we are one minute from midnight until we start seeing a die-off. We are going through unprecedented extinction of species due to human activity, and our biosphere is being destroyed through our mismanagement of Earth's limited resources.
Our goal is to educate and inspire humanity into an ecological revolution by showing people that there are friendly, sustainable, and healthy alternatives that allow us to live in harmony with our ecosystems. We are doing this by showing others that there are sustainable methods in which we can grow and distribute food to our local communities.
The World Health Organization and the United Stations have stated that in the near future humanity will be forced to shift its current agricultural practices to more sustainable methods that are local in focus. Current agriculture techniques are not sustainable due to shipping distances and the amount of petroleum and water being used.
A study was conducted on the amount of oil that is needed in the production of each meal per person in the developed world and it amounted to 150 miles/241km worth of oil for each meal. This equates to 450 miles or 723 km worth of oil per person per day. For every pound of vegetables that is grown in traditional agricultural, 1000 litres of water is needed as most of it evaporates.
There are better ways!
Humanity needs to shift our destructive ways by looking at creative, sustainable alternatives that will let our eco-systems heal.

Hydroponic and Aquaponics
- If implemented properly it can use up to 99% less water than traditional agriculture
- Allows for local distribution of food
- Has the capability to feed the world
Climate Battery Greenhouses
- Can run at temperatures as low as -30F
- Uses only the sun as the source for both heat and electricity
- Work great in Northern Climates
- Can house hydroponic or aquaponic systems as well as raised planters with traditional soil
Alternative Green Housing
- Allows one to live mortgage free if your willing to do some short term hard work;
- Can be built for as little as $900.00;
- Outlasts any modern home as people are still living in forms of alternative earthen houses that are more than 2000 years old!
- Can be built with materials that are sourced locally.
Boiling Frog Productions has spent years filming, photographing, and documenting inspiring projects that can make a difference.
Our documented projects include:
- Alternative housing;
- Hydroponics;
- Aquaponics;
- Climate battery greenhouses;
- Permaculture projects.
What we are working on
Our future plans involve building a climate battery greenhouse in a city of 1.2 million people that uses both hydroponic and aquaponic systems.
A climate battery greenhouse is completely powered and heated from the sun and it is capable of growing bananas, papayas, cucumbers, tomatoes, and other tropical plants in -30F/-34C weather.
Our goal with the climate battery greenhouse is to freely educate and share our experiences with the world as we would like to build a model that can be easily duplicated.
The second phase of our plan is to work on sustainable aquaponic and hydroponic systems that can be distributed to schools, non-profits organizations, food banks, and developing countries around the world.
We would like to educate organizations such as mission groups, Doctors without Borders and any other non-profit organization that would be interested in implementing our work into their missions. A third phase is to educate the general public through free courses and volunteer opportunities.
We would like to bring in senior groups, host educational opportunities for schools, and run after-school programs. We would like to spread our message by getting our local communities involved.

Earth clock
The Earth Clock is a valuable visual tool that gives us real time statistics on what is happening on our planet. It uses real data and statistics from previous years and then makes accurate estimations on what is currently happening on our planet. At the top of the Earth Clock you can navigate through the tabs of real time data for the current year, month, week, day or now.
I encourage you to click on the Environment tab on the left and take a look at the number of extinctions that are occurring. At the time of writing this on January 29th there were 2106 species that went extinct in 29 days. We are currently witnessing a mass die of species and it is due to human activity.
The future may seem grim but by changing our ways and by seeking sustainable ways of living we can turn things around. It is our hope that we can help pave the pathway to an ecological revolution by educating you on how you can grow your own food year round, teach you about cheaper alternative eco friendly housing, and how to implement permaculture principles into your daily lives.
